St. Joachim and Anne's

Location: Anglesea Road, Cork City

Type: Sheltered Housing

Stage: Complete

Within the city of  Cork lies St. Joachim and Anne’s Home, a 19th century redbrick protected structure which has been carefully restored to create homes for the Cork Simon Community.

The restoration includes an extension and the sensitive alteration of the building to create 8 high quality apartments and support accommodation for long term homeless people in Cork.

Sustainable thinking was central to this project; instead of a new building on a greenfield site, the solution reinvigorates a protected structure in the heart of Cork city, bringing a new use to an old building consistent with its historic programme.

This maintains critical services in Cork city centre where they are most needed.
